This is the first year that I've grown blueberry bushes, and I wasn't expecting much from them. However, not only did they provide a small but delicious crop of fruit, but they also surprised me by putting on a wonderful display of autumn colour!
The superfruit producing bushes weren't much to look at for the majority of the year, and only provided me with a couple of bowls of edible fruits, however, they've really surpassed themselves with their amazingly colourful autumn leaves.
Actually, I would have enjoyed more fruit but it seems that the birds were more dedicated in getting up early in the morning than I was, and stole copious numbers of berries from under my nose! I don't begrudge the birds their spoils, but I'm planning better protection for their quarry next season!
So, for surprising me with their wealth of colourful leaves, I'm making this blueberry bush my Image of the Week...
