Cherry Tree Blossom - April 2021
It was a lovely warm spring day for my photo shoot in dad's garden this week, and there were quite a lot of new flowers to point my camera lens at.
My favourite new additions to the garden this week were the blooms of the Cherry (Prunus) tree, which looked even better when you moved in close.
Periwinkle - April 2021
The Periwinkle (Vinca) blooms seemed to have taken a long time to arrive this year, but they were here now, and looked great amongst the yellow Forsythia blossom.
Pittosporum Blossom - April 2021
Another one of my favourite blooms were the tiny black / maroon coloured flowers of the Pittosporum bush. Being so small, the flowers were very easy to miss, despite the bush being absolutely covered in flower buds.
Forget Me Nots - April 2021
Similar to the Periwinkle flowers, the Forget Me Nots (Myosotis) seemed to be late this year, but they weren't any less pretty for their late appearance.
Dog Violets - April 2021
The lawn, such that it was, was more of a wildflower field at the moment, and was riddled with all manner of non lawnworthy inhabitants. These Dog Violets (Viola riviniana) looked pretty though.
Amelanchier Blossom - April 2021
Last week I showcased the Amelanchier tree in all of its glory, and this week I went in close, to get a shot of the individual flowers.
Berberis Blossom - April 2021
The Berberis bushes continued to produce lots of blossom, and this particular one looked the best it had in years.
Pear Tree Blossom - April 2021
The Pear (Pyrus) tree in a neighbouring garden was just beginning to produce blossom, and it looked like there'd be a good few pears produced by the end of the year.
Willow Tree Catkins - April 2021
The Willow (Salix) tree Catkins had almost run their course, with the wind taking their contents off around the surrounding area.
Forest Flame - April 2021
Finally, the Forest Flame (Pieris) bush had begun the process of producing the colourful leaves that give rise to its common name.
So this week I went with Cherry Tree Blossom as my Image of the Week simply because it was nice to see the old Cherry Tree producing blossom for yet another year...
