Snowdrop - February 2022

There was mild drizzle for this week's photo shoot in dad's garden, and I scurried about from subject to subject as I tried to keep my camera dry.

My favourite photo from the shoot was this beautiful little Common Snowdrop (Galanthus nivalis) bloom, which looked fresh and vibrant amongst the ever lengthening grass of the lawn.

Almost Ready - February 2022

Next we almost had our first Daffodil (Narcissus) of the year, as the bright yellow petals of this flower head peeked out of its enclosure but had decided to remain closed.

Around the Trunk - February 2022

There were plenty of Daffodils around the Cherry (Prunus) tree trunk, but none of those looked even close to flowering.

First Forsythia - February 2022

We got our first look at a Forsythia (Forsythia intermedia) bush bloom, which seemed to be well ahead of its compatriots.

Camellia - February 2022

The Camellia bush continued to flower apace, with lots of buds now fully open.

Lasting Periwinkle - February 2022

Despite me predicting the demise of the Periwinkle (Vinca) blooms a few weeks ago, there were still some popping up here and there.

Degradation - February 2022

The Lacecap Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla) bush bracts had finally begun turning into skeletons, albeit with a very slow rate of decay.

Magnification - February 2022

Finally, a look at the wet grass beneath my feet, where I loved how the raindrops were acting like little magnifying glasses, and you could see the veins running through each blade of grass.

So this week I went with Snowdrop as my Image of the Week simply because I thought it looked rather pretty amongst the long grass of the lawn...
