Low Tide - August 2021
It was yet another week when I'd had very little time for photography, so I thought I may as well go for something different to my usual macro nature images.
This was the view over to Southampton Cruise Terminal, across Southampton Water from Hythe on a bright sunny morning during the week. It was low tide, and the smell of the uncovered seaweed mixed with the salty sea air was quite invigorating.
Hythe Pier is the pier that spans the centre of the image, which at 640m in length, makes it the 7th longest pier in the British Isles.
You can just about make out the Hythe Pier Railway train right in the centre of the image, which, to the best of my knowledge, has been in operation since the 1920's.
So this week I went with Low Tide as my Image of the Week simply because it was the only half decent image I managed to take...
