Crocosmia Lucifer - July 2022
It was an incredibly hot summer's day for my photo shoot in dad's garden this week, and it was quite possibly the shortest photo shoot I've ever had, lasting less than ten minutes.
However, even in that short space of time there were a few things that caught my eye, with the most spectacular being this Crocosmia (Crocosmia curtonus) 'Lucifer' bloom. Don't you just love the dark red petals?
Tiny Blue Bloom - July 2022
Next up was the conclusion of my series watching the tiny blue bloom of the Lacecap Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla) bush grow between its surrounding bracts. This is what it looked like last time you saw it a couple of weeks ago.
Hypericum Blossom - July 2022
The big yellow blooms of the Hypericum bush continued to impress, and there were still plenty more flowers to come, despite the hedge being trimmed back by over a foot recently.
Honeysuckle - July 2022
Finally, the Common Honeysuckle (Lonicera periclymenum) was popping up all over the place, although it never seemed to have more than a few flowers in each cluster, which was disappointing.
So this week I went with Crocosmia Lucifer as my Image of the Week simply because it was the most striking thing I saw on my very short photo shoot...
