Rozanne - July 2022

Unfortunately, I haven't had time for photography this week, so here is a collection of images from the last couple of weeks that didn't quite make the cut for their weekly article.

My favourite is probably this image of a Geranium 'Rozanne' bloom. The plant didn't flower last year, so it was great to see the blooms returning to my garden this year.

Lucifer - July 2022

The Crocosmia (Crocosmia curtonus) 'Lucifer' plants were great for photography. With their match-like flower buds, dark red blooms, and fascinating looking seed capsules, there was something to photograph all year around.

Poppy - July 2022

The Welsh Poppy (Meconopsis cambrica) was also a great flower for photography. They grew like weeds for most of the year, so there was nearly always a chance of capturing a bit of colour in an otherwise dull looking garden scene.

Salmon Princess - July 2022

Geranium (Pelargonium) 'Salmon Princess' had proved to be a very resilient plant that had flowered for several consecutive years, despite being an annual variety!

Elise - July 2022

Although this image is a couple of weeks old, the few Lewisia (Lewisia cotyledon) 'Elise' plants that had flowered were still flowering.

Iron Cross - July 2022

The Oxalis 'Iron Cross' (Oxalis tetraphylla) blooms had now disappeared, but they had never let me down since I'd planted them about a decade ago.

Rocking Red - July 2022

The Dianthus (Dianthus caryophyllus) 'Rocking Red' were still hanging on, but the recent extremely hot weather had begun to fade them. This is what they looked like at their best.

So this week I went with Rozanne as my Image of the Week simply because I was very happy to see the blooms return to the garden after a year's absence...
